Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has issued a stern warning to the security agencies operating within the state. He cautioned them against meddling or getting involved in matters that fall outside their primary assignment or designated responsibilities. This warning was delivered during the commencement of the 15th weekly meeting of the Kano State Executive Council, which took place at the Government House.

The governor emphasized the importance of the security agencies sticking strictly to their mandated duty, which is to safeguard the lives and properties of the citizens they serve. He made it clear that any deviation from this primary responsibility would not be tolerated under his administration.

In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the governor expressed his deep concern over the recent increase in thuggery within Kano metropolis. He called on the security agencies to take immediate and decisive action to put an end to this menace, which has been causing significant distress among the residents.

The statement reads:

Governor Abba Kabir expressed disapproval of the recent upsurge in thuggery and clashes involving Yan daba, affirming that the government will not passively observe while unscrupulous elements endanger the relative tranquility and harmony enjoyed by the law-abiding citizens of the state.

He reiterated that under his administration, the state government is diligently collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the populace and their possessions at all times.

Furthermore, Governor Abba Kabir cautioned Judges against the unwarranted release of thugs, emphasizing the threat they pose to the welfare of the state’s residents and stressing the importance of prompt and equitable dispensation of justice.

Alhaji Abba Kabir also instructed security agencies to strictly adhere to their mandated duty of safeguarding the lives and properties of the citizens they serve, warning against involvement in matters beyond their designated responsibilities.

He implored the populace in the state to continue with their lawful pursuits, assuring that the government will persevere in its commitment to ensuring their protection, and requested ongoing support and cooperation for the current administration.

Governor Abba Yusuf’s warning comes at a time when the state is experiencing a troubling rise in criminal activities, particularly thuggery and clashes involving groups known as Yan daba. These activities have disrupted the peace and stability of the state, causing fear and anxiety among the residents. The governor’s firm stance on this issue underscores his commitment to maintaining law and order in Kano State.

The governor’s directive to the security agencies is clear: they must focus on their core responsibilities and avoid any actions that could distract them from their primary duty of protecting the citizens. This includes refraining from getting involved in political matters or any other issues that do not fall within their jurisdiction.

In addition to addressing the security agencies, Governor Abba Yusuf also directed his message to the judiciary. He cautioned judges against the unwarranted release of individuals involved in thuggery, highlighting the danger these individuals pose to the community. The governor stressed the importance of ensuring that justice is served promptly and fairly, to deter criminal activities and maintain public confidence in the legal system.

The governor’s call for the public to continue with their lawful pursuits is a reassurance that the government is committed to their safety and well-being. He urged the residents to support the government’s efforts by cooperating with the security agencies and providing any necessary information that could help in maintaining peace and security in the state.

In conclusion, Governor Abba Yusuf’s warning to the security agencies and his call for public cooperation reflect his administration’s dedication to creating a safe and secure environment for all residents of Kano State. By working together, the government, security agencies, and the public can effectively combat the menace of thuggery and ensure a peaceful and prosperous state.
