The Police Service Commission (PSC) has firmly stated that it has not, and will not, cancel the list of successful candidates released for recruitment into the Constables cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. This assurance was given by Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of the PSC, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Clarification on Social Media Rumors

Ani’s statement was prompted by rumors circulating on social media, which falsely claimed that the PSC had succumbed to pressure and cancelled the final list of successful candidates. According to Ani, these rumors are entirely baseless and did not originate from the PSC. He urged the public to disregard such misinformation, emphasizing that the recruitment process was conducted in strict adherence to relevant guidelines and legal provisions.

Adherence to Guidelines and Legal Provisions

Ani highlighted that the recruitment exercise was meticulously carried out, following all necessary guidelines and legal requirements. The PSC ensured that every step of the process was transparent and fair, aiming to select the most qualified candidates for the Constables cadre. This commitment to a merit-based recruitment process underscores the PSC’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.

Routine Maintenance of Recruitment Portal

The PSC recently concluded a routine maintenance of its recruitment portal, which contains the list of successful candidates. Ani assured the public that the commission is in full control of the situation and has since restored the portal to its original state. The maintenance was a standard procedure to ensure the portal’s functionality and security, and it did not affect the validity of the recruitment list.

Addressing Misinformation and Desperate Groups

Ani advised successful candidates to ignore the deliberate antics of desperate groups attempting to undermine the commission’s efforts. These groups, he noted, are bent on destroying the good work of the PSC by spreading false information. The commission remains steadfast in its commitment to a merit-based and inclusive recruitment exercise, ensuring that federal character, gender sensitivity, and merit are the cornerstones of its recruitment process.

Commitment to Merit-Based and Inclusive Recruitment

The PSC is dedicated to providing the nation with a recruitment process that is both merit-based and inclusive. This means that the commission takes into account the federal character, ensuring representation from all regions of the country. Additionally, gender sensitivity is a key consideration, promoting equal opportunities for both men and women. The PSC’s commitment to these principles ensures that the recruitment process is fair and equitable for all candidates.

Warning to Those Undermining the Recruitment Process

Ani issued a stern warning to those behind the false statements circulating on social media. He urged them to desist from undermining the recruitment exercise, adding that anyone caught spreading misinformation would face consequences. The PSC is determined to protect the integrity of its recruitment process and will take necessary actions against those attempting to disrupt it.

Fully Functional Recruitment Portal

The recruitment portal is now fully functional and accessible, allowing candidates to log in and access all its features without any disruptions. Ani reassured candidates that the portal’s maintenance was a routine procedure and that the list of successful candidates remains unchanged. He encouraged candidates to continue using the portal to stay informed about their recruitment status and any further updates from the PSC.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Police Service Commission has made it clear that the list of successful candidates for the Constables cadre of the Nigeria Police Force remains valid and unchanged. The commission’s commitment to a transparent, merit-based, and inclusive recruitment process is unwavering. Ani’s statement serves as a reminder to the public to disregard false information and trust in the integrity of the PSC’s recruitment exercise. The commission will continue to ensure that its recruitment process is fair, equitable, and in line with legal provisions, providing the nation with a capable and diverse police force.
